The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program is a new incentive program created by AKC for dog
owners who have taken the time to attend a basic training class with their puppy! This
program is designed for dogs of all breeds, mixed and pure, and ages from 3 months - 1
year of age! Organized training classes provide owners with the opportunity to learn how
to communicate with their puppy, as well as provide socialization opportunities for puppies
in a controlled setting!

In the classes you will attend to earn your S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you will be able to
get information on many areas of puppy raising including house training, chewing,
spaying and neutering, basic obedience, and more.

The S.T.A.R. Program is taught by an AKC approved Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
evaluator, who will teach each class, and then administer the S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the
end of the session. Once you pass the test, you will receive an application to send to
A.K.C. to enroll in the S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. Once enrolled, your puppy will receive
the AKC S.T.A.R. medal, a certificate of completion, and an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy package
that contains newsletters, handbook, and more!
